St. Padre Pio of Pietrelcina prays, "Stay with me Lord" after communion. Why? Doesn't he know Jesus will never leave him or forsake him? Of course he does.
In CommunionFire we also recognize why St. Pio prays in these 14 ways. We have found that if you miss your time at the Lord's Table - (even one day), it suddenly becomes two days later! Then without thinking, a week slips by.
Jesus never leaves us or forsakes us,
It is us who leaves and then forgets about Him, thus St.Pio's, "Prayer After Communion". It is about those things in our life we need to yield to Jesus. Its a matter of prayer in the spirit to turn everything from life to death over to the author and finisher of our faith.
The prayer has 14 parts. Each has been illustrated to bring focus to each phrase. All were written by St. Pio as one prayer which He would pray after Communion.
So we pray with St. Pio, "Stay with me Lord..." (The slideshow below shows all 14 stanzas)
Jesus is still waiting for us (again) as He always has and always will.
His Table is always prepared for you. He is always excited to see you! He just want to spend a few moments with you to share all the love, life and blessings He has for you! He wants you to become a partaker of His divine nature!
Throughout our lives in youthful exuberance; then raising children - ours or the Lord's; and while aging into the sunset of our lives - we are always being compelled on so many sides, Within and without we can become so easily distracted from taking our seat at His table.
While investing in eternal life, maintaining our Communion with the King in His glory each day, we find ourselves dealing daily with spiritual resistance of a thousand kinds. There are mental walls of every kind that appear without notice like the self-determination of our will to do everything 'for the Lord. There are unexplainable fears and even physical resistances of illness, moodiness and impatience.
Need an excuse to avoid the Lord's Table? No problem - the enemy has a plan for your life too He wants to keep your attention on the things of this life and away from the Presence of the Lord a much possible. In Communion the enemy is helpless! Jesus said we would dine in the very presence of our enemies.
It is our passion to return the ever-constant love, peace and joy Jesus shares with us that keeps us coming back. Love conquers all fear, guilt, shame, condemnation, evil and darkness! You are forgiven and the goodness of the Lord leads you back again and again. never underestimate the power of humility and prayer as well!
Got Communion? Just do it and keep doing it! Let believing engage you and move with the passion of the spirit to be transformed! Deeper conversion happens best when having a kind of Communion with Jesus that opens your eyes and ears to Him!
